Page 1 of 2 CHICAGO, IL – August 20, 2007 – 8 Chicago-area printers will be awarded the Benny, the highest honor in the 2007 Premier Print Awards. The Premier Print Awards, the graphic arts industry’s largest and most prestigious worldwide printing competition, recognizes outstanding achievement in print production. The winning Chicago-area firms are: Darwill, Hillside, IL Elk Grove Graphics, Elk Grove Village, IL Jet, Downers Grove, IL JohnsByrne Company, Niles, IL Rider Dickerson, Inc., Bellwood, IL Rochelle Printing Company, Rochelle, IL Segerdahl Group, Wheeling, IL The Garvey Group, Niles, IL
One of the firms, JohnsByrne Company, will be awarded two Bennys. A total of 90 Bennys will be awarded to firms worldwide. The Premier Print Awards are the printing industry’s oldest and largest worldwide graphic arts competition, they are hosted by PIA/GATF. In its 58th year, the annual contest recognizes those responsible for the creation and production of print communications. The event promotes excellence in print communications and rewards companies and individuals who produce the very best in print media. This year, over 5,100 entries were received from printing and graphic arts firms from around the world. Judges awarded the Benny to the top entry in each category. Named for the statuette of Benjamin Franklin presented to the winning companies, the Benny has become a coveted trophy within the graphic arts industry throughout the world. Michael Makin, president and CEO of PIA/GATF, notes, “The Benny winners represent the best our industry has to offer. This year’s entries were outstanding. There were entries from companies in 18 countries. Despite the fierce competition, these 8 Chicago firms, through hard work and dedicated craftsmanship, produced pieces worthy of the Benny.” The companies named to receive the 90 top awards will be honored at the 2007 Premier Print Awards Gala on Sunday, September 9 at the Chicago Hilton, Chicago, IL. Combined, the nearly 2,000 printing establishments in the Chicago Metropolitan Area represent over $9 billion in printing sales.
