Twice each year, employers must check with the state of Illinois to ensure the temp or temp-to-perm service they use is registered with the state. The regulations state that “Third party clients have a duty to verify that a day and temporary labor service agency is registered with the Department before entering into a contract with the agency, and again on March 1 and September 1 of each year.  Third party clients may verify that an agency is registered by consulting the Department's website.” Along with verifying the registration of your agency, if the employee works only one day, the client employer must also issue a work-verification at the end of that day.  The listing and verification forms are at www.state.il.us/agency/idol/listings/dlagency.htm and www.state.il.us/agency/idol/forms/pdfs/sampleverification.pdf.
