On September 14-15, our industry will gather in Washington, DC for Print's Voice '10, the printing and graphic communications industry "fly-in" event to advocate public policy on behalf of individual companies and build industry relationships with federal lawmakers and key administration officials. The program includes political and legislative briefings, policy break-out seminars on key public policy issues, Election 2010 overviews, corporate political involvement training, PrintPAC events honoring lawmakers and constituent lobbying visits (scheduling assistance is provided). An appreciation rooftop reception at a premiere Washington, DC location and a "dine-around" networking opportunity are also included.

Air emissions regulations are changing for Illinois lithographers and letterpress shops beginning August 1, 2010. Even if your company already has an air permit or you are exempt from needing one, you must provide certification to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. 2010 Print Market Atlas
According to Printing Industries of America's print market tracking model, the "Great Recession" shrunk print's economic footprint by historic proportions last year. But, even after all of the declines, print's economic footprint is still substantial compared to other U.S. industries and remains a major American industry.
Printing Industry of IL/IN Association is the regional affiliate of Printing Industries of America--every PII member is automatically a member of Printing Industries. We are pleased to share an analysis from Printing Industries of America that shows that members outperform the overall printing industry in terms of sales and financial performance. This advantage means PII members are much more likely to remain in business and capture the market shares of those printers that go out of business as the industry adjusts to changing economic and competitive pressures.
A recent article in AARP, the magazine, reports that "a recent Zogby Interactive survey found that bankers are less popular than politicians. After receiving a huge bailout to escape a debacle of their own making, America's biggest banks raised their fees, posted record profits, and paid enormous bonuses to their executives. Moral outrage aside, there are always three compelling reasons to switch banks: lower fees, higher interest on deposit, and better service. As it turns out, you are likely to find all three at some of the smallest financial institutions in the nation: credit unions".
